Raw Radiance Journal
Going raw for good and all

Day 1: July 7 - Well, this has been a lovely, slow day to start me off. Bananas, watermelon and a half ounce of raw Peruvian Brazil nuts, so far. I am at 100 mg iodine and today is the last day of the Humaworm cleanse - Yay!! I am taking Inositol Hexaphosphate 3200 mg daily, just began with Vitamin D 800 IU, and took 1 Inositol Hexanicotinate 300 mg. I managed a hike to the health food store and back laden with heavy food. Later: Raweos and a bunch of cherries! Delish!

Day 2: July 8 - Rotten, rotten night. Went to bed at 10 and woke up with headache, achy knees, so at midnight I took a salt push. Went back to bed. Woke up at 2 am with massive headache, tight upper back, achy knees, nausea - no frontal thing this - back and top of the head. Woke every hour for awhile, finally gave up and watched a DVD - still with a headache. Slept some more and woke STILL with this headache, tight back, nausea and achy knees. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what this was as I sipped a cup of coffee and swallowed a couple ip6 - hoping this was simple caffeine withdrawal. I determined with help from Wombat at Curezone that this is likely detox from the IP6. And since I just took another two tablets, decided to do a salt flush - 2 teaspoons celtic salt in 32 oz warm water chased by another 32 ox water. This flushes out the whole digestive tract, helping any lingering toxins to get on out... and in this case, perhaps preventing any more digestion of the 2 IP6 I took today. (Note to self - This is how we learn, LN!! Making boo-boos. Forgive yourself for not doing this perfectly.) ~ As I am letting the salt flush do it's thing for me I rediscovered this post by Alissa - such brilliance and sanity about going raw. Alissa's post on how to go raw Re-reading this was a perfect reminder of what a really delightful blessing it is to be able to eat delicious raw food. I am going to make that guacamole later... my favorite dish after pesto. grin And it reminds me why I have read her book more than once. ~ Salt flush helped a lot and I was able to take a walk in the sunshine. The guacamole was delicious! I also had cherries with a side of 50 mg iodine, a mango and took a salt push. Still not feeling terrific, I hit the sheets very early.

Day 3: July 9 - Woke with kidney pain at 3 a.m., so I took a salt push. Kidney pain feels to me like lower back tension and an unwillingness to twist the torso. ~ Breakfast was bananas and a mug of coffee - going to have to taper off, and 25 mg iodine chased by a big glass of water. I am noticing the first thoughts of cooked food. I made guacamole and had a handful of Brazil nuts an hour later. Green smoothie with spinach, pineapple, banana, mango, dab of coconut oil and some raw cacao. ~ I climbed a huge hill coming home - carrying heavy fruit! Yay me! And then I got to eat... Watermelon!!! OMG, the best quarter of a melon I have had in - well almost forever. Perfectly ripe, sweet and so juicy. I scarfed the whole thing. Slurp!

Day 4: July 10 - I slept well, woke and feel great. Breakfast was coffee, cherries and 25 mg iodine. Yum! This is the second day of my period and no cramps, skin is healing nicely, too. Hmmm. Think this improvement has anything to do with iodine? I do. grin ~~ I ate raw cookies, bananas, Brazil nuts. I worked all day and then took another 25 mg iodine and went into detox - tight neck, shoulders, cranky, sad and my hips/butt hurt like mad. I took a salt push which helped some. I hit the sheets early feeling overwhelmed.

Day 5: July 11 - Heavy sleep with detox dreams. I woke up sad and annoyed. What happened?? I am not in the iodine bliss, not feeling capable, feeling scared. And it hit me. I was doing so great and then decided to improve it; make myself not only go raw but stop doing the salt pushes so I can go low fat raw. Ah Ha!!! Iodine was what enabled me to even think I can do raw again. Lowering the dose enough to make the detox live able without the salt pushes is going backward. So, I am BACK on 50 mg iodine this morning, with a salt push at the same time! If I need another salt push later - good! I will take another 50 mg tonight with another salt push. And I may go even higher with the iodine - even as I am raw. I will go low fat raw and I defy my body to hold onto the fat no matter how many salt pushes I need to take! This feels so much better and clearer. Iodine first and foremost - after all I have had almost 50 years deficiency! And I get to fetch home some more of that fabulous watermelon. ~ The salt pushes - 3 so far today - have helped me a LOT! And I now understand why I crashed with that headache etc on Sunday morning - I lowered my iodine intake and kept the IP6 at the same level, not a good move. Iodine helps deal with the detox of IP6. So, when I begin IP6 again I will be sure to keep the iodine steady. So, yes, I have been detoxing like mad. And now I am coping with it a bit better, I feel a lot better. And hopeful again. ~ I hiked for a half hour and did 20 minutes of boogieing, too.

Day 6: July 12 - Okay, I am impressed. I am on day six - almost a full week - 100% raw and can hardly believe how simple it was to transition. I feel much better at 100 mg iodine, even having taken 4 salt pushes yesterday. I had iodine and cherries for breakfast. I worked all day and some of the night yesterday, too. I love being productive. ~ A couple oranges. A big green smoothie: 2 bananas, Brazil nut milk, nectarine, couple T of raw cacao. A few more nectarines and a bunch of bananas. Only one salt push.

Day 7: July 13 - Woke feeling a bit weird today; head achy, a bit stressed - a good boogie to a favorite song helped with that just great. Lovely oranges, a few too many Brazil nuts. I am going to stay at 100 mg iodine. I have a huge jones for more watermelon. ~ Brought home a whole watermelon today. And some more of the Raweos. I did need a nap today, otherwise, no detox even with no salt push today.

Day 8: July 14 - 100 mg Iodine. Had a bit of a headache when I first woke. It went away before a cup of coffee. I really enjoyed the coffee. And have been energetic since. Painting, fetching more raw food from the health food store. I made a green smoothie early on, after a banana. Then more watermelon. And a nice hike. Gorgeous breezy day out, perfect for sweating. Delicious raw coconut cookies, Pizzazz plus cracker and lots of water. Dehydrated foods makes me very thirsty. Boogied for 20 minutes, too.

Day 9: July 15 - 100 mg Iodine. Coffee to begin today, too. Another big green, cacao smoothie with spinach this time. 5 lemon mangos... man, are they good. Another hike and home with some heavy food. I get to make the pesto and then have cherries and raweos later. And I am decided, I go low fat raw tomorrow. That means no salt, no added fats - just greens, fruit, with iodine and selenium as supplements.

Day 10: July 16 - I am down five pounds on the scale this morning. 100 mg iodine, 200 mcg selenium. A big chocolate cherry green smoothie for breakfast. 2 bananas, 6-8 ripe cherries, spinach and water - delish! I also had more watermelon and 9 lemon mangos. 200 mcg different kind of selenium - not a great reaction.

Day 11: July 17 - I got up at 3:30 a.m. and decided to take an IP6 tablet. Then I got up at 4:11 to participate in the Fire the Grid project. I re-read my gratitude list from a couple years ago and began a new online gratitude list. Then wrote appreciative emails to my sisters. It was a lovely hour. I went back to bed and when I woke I did oil pulling (I do this most days, I just don't often write it here.) followed by 8 drops iodine and 200 mcg selenium. And then a delicious chocolate cherry green smoothie. I did get a nasty neck pinch. I think this was from the IP6, so I won't be taking any more for awhile. And I think I need to do a liver flush. Later I had a pint of blueberries and the rest of the cherries. I hiked for 50 minutes and got good and sweaty. Once home I had five of the lemon, aka champagne mangos. Then, later watermelon!! I feel fantastic.

Day 12: - July 18 - I am full of energy today. Big chocolate-banana green smoothie, five mangos, some cherries, double carrot/orange juice from Jamba juice and a shot of wheatgrass, a quarter of a watermelon, a couple more mangos and into bed early. I shopped with a friend and my feet are tired. But I look very cute! Here I am all flirty.

Day 13 - July 19 - I did oil pulling followed by a big choco-cherry green smoothie, watermelon, lemon mangos, cherries and some oranged. 50 mg iodine 2 100 mcg selenium twice. I hiked for an hour. Big detox at night - nausea and deep fatigue.

Day 14 - July 20 - I feel somewhat better today. ~ And then I went back to bed and slept for four more hours. Detoxing is heavy work for the body. I woke and felt better, more like me. I hiked the hills and brought home watermelon, blueberries, cherries, 10 lemon mangos and some romaine leaves. They looked so good, I just want to munch them and did. ~ My face is still breaking out in big, sore red pimples - been going on more than a week, now. At first I thought it was parasite cleansing still going on. When sitting for long periods I have a pain beneath my left butt cheek. Will not go away. Movement helps the mood, for sure. But the body seems to be struggling quite a bit. I skipped the second 50 mg of iodine tonight. I am going to take this weekend off from iodine and just eat my food and allow the detox to move on out. ~ I began to feel the nausea again and decided to head it off. I boogied for an hour and got drippingly sweaty! That was an excellent decision because I feel so much better now. I also did a small liver flush. A pinch of epsom salts in water, then later a good slug of grapefruit juice and olive oil. Worked amazingly well.

Day 15 - July 21 - Slept around the clock, waking only for potty breaks. I feel so much better. I am down four more pounds on the scale. I am eating cherries, chocolate green smoothie, lemon mangos and maybe another smoothie later. I will be taking no iodine today. I am resting today.

Day 16 - July 22 - I am down another 2 pounds on the scale - total since I began iodine 14 pounds. I am resting today, as well. And no iodine today either. My face is healing on up just great! ~ OR, I actually hiked to the health food store and carried home a 13 pound watermelon and even more cherries, bananas, blueberries, cantaloupe and lemon mangoes. So much for resting. I got very sweaty even as the fog rolled in and it felt so good. Another really lovely side effect of raw - I do not stink. I do have a scent, but it is no where near as strong as it used to was... and that applies to the non stink in the bathroom, as well. Nice!! It was the first thing I noticed about taking my cats raw - no more poopy smell in the cat box!

Day 17 - July 23 - The scale popped up those two pounds. No worries, it will be gone for good eventually. I feel sluggish, moody and my neck is tighter than ever. I wondered as I drank my chocolate cherry green smoothie if it is the cacao that has my knickers in a twist, since I am off iodine for two and a half days. I REALLY like dropping the weight. The benefits of that are huge. I also like how I feel on iodine. And it seems on iodine I don't drop the weight. So, I feel caught in a conundrum. What to choose... the raw food and weight loss, or do I go whole hog on iodine for the next two months, eat raw and do the salt push as my body detoxes huge amounts of the halides. I am annoyed that I feel I must choose. I want both, and want both to make me healthy, slimmer and happier. grin Greedy little sucker, ain't I?? I am going to really ponder his today. ~~ Okay, I pondered. I am thinking this: Taking iodine enabled me to even consider doing raw. Being raw and stopping the iodine the result was my craving for beef came roaring back. I only need to high dose iodine for two more months. I may lose weight anyway, but eating raw is beneficial even if I stay at this weight while rebuilding my iodine stores. On iodine I have no fear... I think it is doing something really good for me that even raw cannot accomplish right now. So, I took 8 drops of iodine in water. I will skip the cacao tomorrow.

July 24 - (cooked) I got an explanation for my distress yesterday. I spent all of last night and part of this morning on the toilet with a wicked case of what I assumed was food poisoning. So, no wonder I was not my normal cheerful self yesterday. I feel wiped out, am down five pounds and am sipping water. - Or was it detox from going whole hog 100% raw so abruptly?? I don't know. But, I do know that I am taking a step back. I have given myself 100 mg iodine today with no detox from that at all. I like that. I also allowed myself to have a hot cooked meal tonight. I enjoyed the variety of flavors more than I thought I would. And cooked food is amazingly dryer than raw food, of that I became sharply aware. I did skip the cacao and had no coffee. Perhaps going low fat raw is a bit extreme for me right now. It is enough that I am raw. On that note I boogied like mad for a solid hour!!! Yes!

July 25 - (cooked) I sure feel a lot better than I did before whatever it was yesterday. I had a fantastic LONG dream this morning, I am taking iodine, had a cup of coffee. I am going to be high raw today. ~ Well, some raw, at least. grin I did what I could. I slept again for hours and then felt great all day. 100 mg iodine. Boogied again for another hour!

July 26 - (cooked) I worked all night. I took 50 mg iodine this morning with breakfast. And at noon I took my first potassium chloride push. I can tell that the zits on my face already are detox from the bromide coming out of my body. Boy, that PC stuff is not great tasting. Of course sodium chloride is not much tastier at that concentration, either. It rinses from the mouth with water a lot faster than epsom salts ever did. ~ I am ready to be all raw again in the morning. I am ready to allow myself to just do the iodine, the chloride pushes and the raw food... along with the lovely workouts and let the weight take care of itself for awhile. Because the Potassium Chloride enabled me to feel GREAT again! I can feel those zits on my face drying up, too.

July 27 - (cooked) I slept some, does not feel like enough. But I am cheerful and energetic this morning. Off to the HFS to stock up again on raw. Guacamole!! ~ I took a total of 24 drops of Lugol's, 2 chloride pushes and was able to boogie for an hour.

July 28 - (cooked) Another day of 24 drops and I slept and slept and slept. It was great. One chloride push late in the day.

July 29 - (cooked) 16 drops followed immediately by a chloride push. Later in the day I took 6 packets Emergen-C, and then more than an hour later another 16 drops of Lugol's with 500 mg magnesium, 200 mcg selenium. And I boogied for an hour and a quarter solid and felt like I could keep on going! I also hiked to the HFS and home with lots of heavy food - that took a half hour or more. All raw and a new page beginning tomorrow!

From July 28th onward...
